2012 SOS Live

Welcome to the Southern Region Live event page for the 2012 Region Gathering. This page is where you can find all the latest news, information and happenings coming directly from the gathering in New Braunfels, TX.

What is the purpose of a region gathering?
Region gatherings, as its name suggests, is a weekend-long event that brings together all section officers and advisers from around the Southern Region to discuss the current state of the OA and engage in various team building and conclave planning exercises. The primary goal of the weekend is to help section leaders better understand their roles and responsibilities in the Order of the Arrow.

Why is the gathering frequently called “SOS”?
Because of the large training aspect associated with a region gathering, it is often referred to as the Section Officers Seminar. Hence, the abbreviation SOS.

How is the location for the gathering chosen?
Much like a section conclave, many factors go into selecting a location. Some of the factors include proximity to major transportation hubs and, of course, up-to-date conference facilities. Also, the Key 3 like to move the gathering location to different parts of the region, so that all sections have a chance of it being “closer to home” every few years. This year, the gathering is being held at T Bar M Conference Center in New Braunfels, TX, just northeast of San Antonio.
